People know us for our Ensemble Choirs who sing at the San Diego Symphony Noel Noel concerts, the Voices for Children Gala, Padres games, and many more. What you might not know is that SDCC teaches music education in schools including a major collaboration with DEEP (Diamond Educational Excellence Partnership) in southeastern San Diego.

We recently sat down with Ruthie Millgard, Artistic Director of the San Diego Children’s Choir and the team of Ensemble Program instructors to discuss what qualities - both learned and innate - make a good chorister.

The results are in from our annual parents survey! We are always interested in feedback and the parents survey helps us understand how we’re doing. Keep reading for the results of the questions we asked this year.

What an exciting year of growth it has been for SDCC. Despite the setbacks we’ve faced with Covid, the Choir experienced significant growth this year. Both our Ensemble and Early Years programs experienced record breaking enrollment and we expanded the number of rehearsal locations from 5 to 7 countywide.

SDCC has a long history of weaving unique performance experiences to its Ensemble Program since its founding in 1990. These opportunities were limited during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are thrilled to be able to safely return to offer one of the most exciting and transformative elements of our program. Whether it be this weekend at Spreckels Organ Pavilion or at another upcoming performance, we hope to see you in the audience soon!
