A Joyful First Step Into Singing, Movement, and Musical Discovery for Children Ages 3-6

Prelude is a gently paced early childhood music program for children ages 3-6 designed to nurture young voices through singing, movement, rhythm play, storytelling, and imaginative exploration. Prelude helps children build confidence, coordination, listening skills, creativity, and early musicianship in a gentle environment.

Through play-based songs, seasonal themes, and rhythm instruments, children discover the joy of singing while developing foundational skills that support future choir participation and lifelong music-making.

 

Prelude (Level ONE) introduces children ages 3-4 to music and singing through play-party singing games, movement, rhythm instruments, and improvisation. Children enjoy exploring their voice while building confidence, listening skills, coordination, and social interaction.

Prelude (Level TWO) introduces 5-6 year olds to expanded musical learning through singing games, rhythm activities, movement, creative storytelling, and early group music-making. Building on the playful exploration of Level 1, children begin strengthening vocal confidence, listening skills, steady beat, musical memory, creativity, and learning to sing together with greater focus and independence.

 

FALL SEASON FOCUS - Discovering Voices, Movement & Nature!

This fall, children will explore seasonal songs, rhythm activities, movement and storytelling within a playful group setting. Singing will evolve gently through play-based circle games where children learn to joyfully find ways to naturally bring their instrument to life. We will conclude the season with a special Fall Recital for families to celebrate each child’s musical growth. Seasonal activities include:

  • Leaves, changing seasons

  • Weather and wind

  • Harvest and gratitude

  • Animals preparing for winter

  • Rhythm patterns in nature

  • Echo songs

  • Folk songs

  • Call and response

  • Expressive movement

  • Wednesdays, September 2 - October 28 (8-week session):  4:00–4:45 p.m. Rancho Bernardo/Poway – Prelude Level 1 (ages 3-4)

  • Wednesdays, September 2 - October 28 (8-week session): 5:00–5:45 p.m. Rancho Bernardo/Poway – Prelude Level 2 (ages 5-6)

  • Thursdays, September 3 - October 8 (6-week session):  4:00–4:45 p.m. Mission Valley – Prelude Level 1 (ages 3-4)

  • Thursdays, September 3 - October 8 (6-week session): 5:00–5:45 p.m. Mission Valley – Prelude Level 2 (ages 5-6)
