The results are in from our 2023 Family Survey. Surveying parents is a great way for us to gather feedback to improve the overall Choir experience and help us better understand the impact of our programs. Here is what we found.
The first question relates to overall satisfaction:
How satisfied are you with the quality of the choral music education your child has received?
We work hard to ensure we offer the highest quality music education so it was lovely to see a ranking of 4.7 out of 5 on the quality of our choral music education.
We were also curious to find out how the child’s experience impacted them in terms of the following:
Increased confidence
Sense of belonging/community of friends
Vocal and musical skill development
Performance opportunities
Personal growth
Here is a summary of the results.
As to how many parents would recommend the San Diego Children’s Choir to a friend, we saw a whopping 96% of parents respond YES!
Here are a few of the (over 50) responses to the question: “Why would you recommend choir to a friend?”
My daughter has really found a home in SDCC. Love the community and the support.
Because SDCC is a very professional organization with a high standard of music. Also because it would be nice for my kid to have some friends at practice.
The teachers inspired our daughter to love music and singing. She went from zero to sitting at the piano, reading the vocal notes, picking out the melody, and singing her favorite song on key! WOW!
The choir helped my daughter boost her self confidence and we love watching her perform with the group. The choir also helped her with her self discipline and pushed her to persevere in learning songs that she didn’t think she could sing. We enjoy hearing her practicing all the songs that she’s learning from the choir.
I love the choir’s dedication to inclusivity. Fostering a sense of community and belonging to each of the choristers has kept us re-enrolling every year.
Music education is vital for all children. Having an opportunity to sing with such a quality ensemble is a once in a lifetime experience.
My child loves the rehearsals and performances and it is the one thing that I don’t have to convince him to do - attend rehearsals as he loves going to them.
Apprentice choir has been such an educational, and enriching experience for my daughter! It has helped build her confidence and social skills. I have referred a couple of friends. We hope to stay in the choir until she's out of high school. Mrs. Orem is such a great teacher and wonderful person! !! All the kids and parents love her! She has helped my daughter learn discipline in a serious yet fun way. We have had a lot of opportunities to perform and have had other opportunities made known to us such as the symphony, opera, children's opera in Balboa Park and the kids music workshop at Southwestern Community College in Chula Vista. The mini tour was fantastic too! Finding the choir was such a blessing for us and I'm sure it will be an experience that Liberty will always cherish. Bravo and many thanks!
Top notch music education; incredible opportunities to perform (and take risks) in a supportive environment; exceptionally well thought out program for children to experience progressive musical and personal growth.
The teachers are very caring and professional. The choir staff are helpful. Parents also meet fellow parents who are like minded (especially the younger choirs). Kids learn so much and grow significantly in music ability each year.
SDCC is an amazing organization with exceptional music teachers and leaders. Both of our kids love being a part of this choir and have grown musically and personally in so many ways. Their love and appreciation for music can be attributed to their experience with SDCC. Thanks for all that you do!
The program cadence and staff interactions with students make for wonderful learning grounds for multiple areas of development including social awareness, self confidence, group dynamics, personal responsibility. Staff are always personable but professional while calling the students to a standard of behavior and performance that is achievable.
