Gilbert Castellanos joins the San Diego Children's Choir as it performs "An American Tapestry," an adventurous perspective on the musical history of our nation, featuring guest artist, San Diego jazz icon and award-winning trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos. This concert explores our local experience starting with the indigenous people of Southern California and Mexico and progressing through two significant waves of immigration, European and East Asian. Castellanos will join the choir in the second half of the performance to widen the focus and showcase a broader picture of our nation's music through waves of immigration, which evolved to become quintessential American genres - Americana, Spirituals, and Jazz.
