"Look", says Nick. "Not at me," says Jenna, "the building."

You all know those beautiful winter days in San Diego, when it is clear, the sun is shining and there is a brisk breeze from the east? That's Sydney in June. It is truly lovely here, and today we were able to explore a town called Manly Beach. Think Ocean Beach with pines instead of palms. Part of that exploration was purchasing didgeridoos, sheepskin boots and Billabong products with Australia in the logo. From Manly we boarded a fairy for a ride across the harbor, with the classic bay side view of the Opera House. It was windy on the water, but the choristers braved the elements and stayed out the entire trip across the harbor. At least those who made sail; a couple missed the boat and had to cross with our courier.

Those safely on the other side made their way to the bus, and on to the prison where they learned about the tortuous punishments handed out to the convict settlers. The conditions at the prison were horrendous, crowed quarters, in sanitary conditions and inhumane treatment. It is no wonder that the Australians feel they are a hardy bunch.

The remainder of the day was spent exploring Sydney is small groups, shopping at Victoria Market and Padding Square, capped off with an Italian dinner or at least dinner at an Italian restaurant.

Tomorrow we go home.
