Today was a fabulous day. This morning the call of the internet machine woke us from our peaceful slumbers at 5:45 a.m. (It doesn't help that we're jetlagged either.) Try as we might to resist the temptation, we ultimately had no choice but to give in and check our email. Then was breakfast. The usual uber-greasy cheap "bacon" (editor - what we would call Canadian bacon) plus tea and cereal. After our nourishing meal we had another one of Mrs. Shirley's (sic) grueling rehearsals, jam-packed with the most exhausting of conditioning exercises and the most trying of ethnic music. Following our difficult session with Mrs. Shirley we all piled onto the COACH (not bus, note) and had our individuality further stripped from our souls as we were forced to count off. We now have numbers instead of names and are required to wear matching outfits at all times. Well, almost at all times. We went to a church and sang. Then we went to a memorial and sang. Next we went to an opal store and didn't sing. NOTE: Despite that we san at 66.66% of these venues, this was not meant to be a singing outing; it was strictly for sightseeing and tourism purposes. For lunch we had CITI NOODLES which we ate upon our heater as we felt like matchbook girls huddling in the frigid winter of our "hotel" room. Later we met up with the ACC. (This stands for Australian Children's Choir, not as you undoubtedly thought, American Camel Choir.) Next we had a dinner of lasagna and fruit and juice boxes which we attempted to smuggle out under our eighties prom dresses (aka choir uniforms) but were caught when they asked why our figures looked so rectangular. Alas, our lives are so hard. Next was the concert, in which we performed well if we do say so ourselves. Mrs. Shirley blatantly disregarded Lisl's threat to cut out her own heart if we didn't sing Route 66. We didn't sing it. But even Black Swana, the piece we learned today, wasn't so bad. We did our new Australian friends Farewell and retired to our "hotel" to conspire as we dreamed by the fire. By that I mean that we formulated a plan to improve our interconnect ting lives upon arriving back to San Diego by effecting the manifestation of our summer plans and having a code language.
