Driving is a necessary task in touring. Thus, after a hearty breakfast at the hotel, the Choirs traveled two hours to Leipzig. Leipzig was an industrial city filled with shops, restaurants, and monumental sites. Oh yea, there was also a park where Concert Choir had the choice of playing for a few hours. However, those of us hungry for culture went on a tour of the city. Sites included St. Nicholas' and St.. Thomas' churches. Lunch was independent and after handfuls of Deutsche Marks were spent in various shops, the Choirs boarded the bus.

Another glorious two hours brought us to Wittenberg. Unpacking served as leisure time. Next we had the privilege of meeting the Wittenberg Cultural Minister. We sang a series of songs to him and he informed us of basic Wittenberg information. Apparently anyone who spends five minutes in the city sees the doors of the Castle Church. Thus, after the visit to City Hall, we witnessed the doors where Martin Luther Posted his 95 thesis.

The Black Bear restaurant served as an ideal location for a meal of potatoe cakes and sausage (what a surprise!). After we were happily fed, we returned to the hotel and did whatever we pleased. Many of us smiled with delight as our TV remotes landed on an old favorite - "Beavis and Butthead". It may not seem "choir appropriate" but we went to sleep with smiling faces. All in all, the day was filled with food, fun, and a bit of bad American TV.
