- Our Founder

PollyPolly Campbell is the Founder of the San Diego Children's Choir and presided as Music Director and Executive Director until her passing in December, 2000. Her Celebration of Life was held on January 11, 2001 - an event that was an outpouring of love, overflowing the church with more than 500 in attendance. Her Choir sang during the service, including graduates who returned the night before from their various colleges.

Mrs. Campbell had over twenty-five years experience directing children's choirs in schools and churches in San Diego and was recognized as a specialist in training the young voice. In that capacity she had presented workshops for the American Guild of Organists, San Diego County Schools, the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, and the San Diego County Choristers Guild.

Mrs. Campbell studied conducting with Donald Neuen, choral arranging with Alice Parker, and choral techniques with Frauke Haasemann, Sir David Willcocks, and Helen Kemp. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Douglass College and a Master of Music degree from the University of Illinois where she was elected to Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honorary Society. She also completed post graduate work at Westminster Choir College and the Eastman School of Music.

Among the conductors for whom Mrs. Campbell had prepared the San Diego Children's Choir are Sir David Willcocks, Maestro Yoav Talmi, and Jung Ho Pak, Artistic Director of the San Diego Symphony.
